Poshan Ghar endeavors to strengthen the implementation of the Poshan Abhiyan through a network of partners. The initiative looks at mobilizing partnerships with civil society organizations to enhance knowledge of nutrition and promote its literacy. The UNICEF-SMART Poshan Ghar intervention is an attempt to create a network of civil society organizations as well as community based organizations to impart nutritional literacy. It was a one of its kind endeavor that focused on the capacity and knowledge building of CRs for creating a network of reporters to sensitize communities on the different aspects of maternal, newborn and adolescent malnutrition. With over two years of work in the field, SMART has worked closely with UNICEF to design this project as a radio-led initiative complemented by community engagement, to reach out to vulnerable communities.
With strong and ongoing on-ground community participation, SMART seeks to democratize information through radio. SMART undertook campaign "Poshan Ghar" in 2022 with UNICEF Delhi for sensitizing community radios across 8 states. The project was based on the capacity-building of the community around assorted themes such as optimal breastfeeding, the importance of 1000 days, complementary feeding, and anemia prevention in children, adolescent girls, and pregnant women. A game was also created in addition to broadcasting and narrowcasting to educate the people about the importance of nutrition.
