Powering Employability-Computers & Confidence

SMART, with support from Women without Borders, Austria, organized a 6 months computer training program for over 250 women and girls in Mumbai. The target group was the families of the police inspectors and constables. The low salaries and living conditions of the police force in Mumbai inspired this training program. The effort was to provide skills that would help the women to get jobs and contribute to the family income. The daughters and mothers attended the course together.

Along with computer training the participants were given English speaking training. They were taught simple spoken English. SMART engaged two psychologists to impart confidence building skills to the group. The objective was to raise their self esteem and belief in themselves.
